Mustafa Kamil was among the most significant nationalists in the Middle East of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as one of the most important nationalist figures in modern Egyptian history.
Over the course of his brief but eventful career, he was an advocate of Egyptian independence and brought together strands of intellectual thought, like territorialism and Pan-Islamism, to express early nationalist imaginings of Egypt.
