          Background

          Salwi was born on July 19, 1952 in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India; the son of Madhukar and Vijaya (Savant) Son.

          Education

          Salwi received a Bachelor of Science degree from Delhi University in 1971.

          Abstract.

          Two years later he earned his Master of Science degree from the same university.

          Career

          Salwi began his career as an editorial staff and science reporter at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in 1975.

          Five years later he took a position of an assistant editor at the same council. Then in 1987, Dilip became an editor at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. From 1997 he was a science writer, editor and consultant.

          Achievements

          • Salwi received a National Prize form the Department of Science and Technology, India in 1955.
