Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVante Parker, formerly of the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, has suddenly retired from the National Football League. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news on Monday.

Parker revealed to Schefter why he decided to retire at this stage in the offseason.

"I want to see my kids, spend quality time with them," Parker said.

"I want to be there for them whenever I can."

Parker, 31, signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in March. However, just over two months later, he's elected to hang his cleats up.

The nine-year veteran was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Louisville by the Dolphins.

He logged seven seasons with Miami before spending the last two seasons in New England with the Patriots.

In June 2023, Parker agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension with New England. However, this March, the team elected to release him.
